Guided by dedication to detail and fundamental functionality, my work expresses who I am as designer and human. My designs meet at the intersection of craft and future-forward thinking, investigating new concepts and mediums along with current teachings of fabrication. I investigate user experiences, interactions, and functionality. I find importance in creating for the interaction between a body and an object.
I achieved aBFA in Product Design at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Throughout my time there I took as many different classes as I could, exploring furniture and lighting. Along with those newfound interests, I have always enjoyed clothing/apparel design. I dove into this world further with designing and making an outerwear collection, titled Acadia Outerwear, and fell in love with the construction, prototyping, and expression of clothing & apparel.
Clothing can be looked at as a mundane object that is mindlessly involved in one's day. However, I look at apparel as being more personal than any other object. It is a chance to express yourself, start a conversation, make a statement, or blend in. My design approach hyper-focuses on the relationship between the user and the garment. Considering how the user feels while being both static and active, how the clothing shifts and stretches, and the overall functionality. Exploring the world of fashion is where I find joy and excitement; where I see boundless opportunities for experimentation and fun.
